A mid-sized city's building department was processing permits entirely on paper, with residents waiting 6-8 weeks for approvals and inspectors managing schedules via phone calls. We designed and built a public-facing portal for permit applications, document uploads, fee payments, and status tracking, plus an internal dashboard for staff review, assignment, and inspection scheduling. The system integrated with the city's existing financial system for fee processing.
